Po Leung Kuk Dr. Stanley Ho Memorial Fund - Student Support Scheme is established in the fiscal year of 2020 / 2021 by Ms. Daisy C F Ho, Chairman of Po Leung Kuk, in memory of her late father Dr. Stanley Ho. Adhering to Dr. Stanley Ho’s lifelong dedication to philanthropy, the Fund comprises a generous personal donation from Ms. Daisy Ho and memorial contributions from various sectors of the society.

 

The learning needs of children from low income families have long been a concern to the donor. The Fund aims to provide assistance to kindergarten, primary and secondary school students who are deprived of certain basic learning needs and self-development opportunities due to financial difficulty.

Objectives

  1. Po Leung Kuk Dr. Stanley Ho Memorial Fund - Student Support Scheme is established in the fiscal year of 2020 / 2021 by Ms. Daisy C F Ho, Chairman of Po Leung Kuk, in memory of her late father Dr. Stanley Ho. Adhering to Dr. Stanley Ho’s lifelong dedication to philanthropy, the Fund comprises a generous personal donation from Ms. Daisy Ho and memorial contributions from various sectors of the society.

Eligibility and Referral

  • Hong Kong residents
  • Students of Po Leung Kuk secondary, primary, special schools or kindergartens OR Students from schools receiving service of Po Leung Kuk social service department OR students who are service users of Po Leung Kuk social service units.
  • Students should be eligible to receive the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance/ School Textbook Assistance / Kindergarten and Child Care Centre Fee Remission Scheme administered by the Student Finance Office under the Working Family and Student Financial Assistance Agency.

  • Students should be referred by Po Leung Kuk affiliated schools or social service units. For scope 1.2, students can also be referred by Social Welfare Department or integrated family service centres subsidized by Social Welfare Department.

Scope and amount to be granted

  1. Information technology learning
    1. For primary and secondary school students who are recipients of half grant School Textbook Assistance and are already eligible to receive half subsidy from the Community Care Fund to purchase mobile computer devices for school e-learning. Families have special difficulties can apply to our Fund for additional subsidy to cover the balance of the purchase cost. Each student is entitled to $2,370 at maximum. OR
    2. Primary four to secondary students who are recipients of full or half grant School Textbook Assistance but are not eligible for the Community Care Fund are also our target beneficiaries. They can be subsidized by our Fund to purchase computer devices to facilitate their learning and broaden their exposure. Each family is entitled to $4,740 at maximum.
  2. Basic and urgent learning needs
    1. Deprived students can be supported with their basic and urgent learning needs such as textbook fees, air conditioning fees, eyeglasses and other school related expenses.
    2. Each student is entitled to $2,000 at maximum.
  3. Special learning needs
    1. Students who are receiving full grant School Textbook Assistance with suspected special learning needs recommended by specialists can be supported to receive individual assessment.
    2. Each Student is entitled to $4,500 at maximum.
  4. Overseas learning programmes
    1. Primary and secondary students who are receiving full grant School Textbook Assistance can be supported to participate in overseas learning programmes launched by their schools.
    2. Each student is entitled to $2,500 at maximum.
  5. Each beneficiary is entitled to every single aspect of the respective financial assistance mentioned above once every 2 years.
