Po Leung Kuk Dr. Stanley Ho Memorial Fund – Student Support Scheme

The learning needs of children from low income families have long been a concern to the donor. The Fund aims to provide assistance to kindergarten, primary and secondary school students who are deprived of certain basic learning needs and self-development opportunities due to financial difficulty.

Eligibility and Referral

Fund recipients should be Hong Kong residents and eligible to receive the following subsidies ( varied depending on the scope of assistance)

  • the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance
  • School Textbook Assistance ( Full grant / half grant)
  • Kindergarten and Child Care Centre Fee Remission Scheme

For scope 1, 2 and 3 (as mentioned below), students can be referred by school guidance personnel, Social Welfare Department, integrated family service centres/ children and youth services centres subsidized by Social Welfare Department, Po Leung Kuk affiliated schools / social services department.

 

Scope 4 can only be referred by Po Leung Kuk affiliated schools, social services department and residential child care services.

Scope and amount to be granted

  1. Information technology learning

    (For primary and secondary students)

    1. Students who are CSSA, full or half grant School Textbook Assistance recipients and have never benefited from government subsidies (such as community care fund) to obtain mobile computer devices, can apply from our fund to buy mobile computer devices (and / or with fundamental software, product warranty for three years, a mobile device management system and other basic accessories). Each student is entitled to $3,500 at maximum ( For half grant School Textbook Assistance recipients, half of the devices price with $1,750 at maximum).
    2. Remarks: Students have received government subsidies to buy mobile computer device, but the device is out of order after three years’ warranty period, or need a new device after changing to a new school, can still apply from our fund for a new device.
  2. Basic and urgent learning needs  Application Suspended

    (For kindergarten, primary and secondary students)

    1. Students who are recipients of CSSA, School Textbook Assistance or Kindergarten and Child care centre fee remission can be supported with their basic and urgent learning needs such as textbook fees, school miscellaneous expenses, school bus fees, buying eyeglasses, school uniforms, shoes, school bags, internet data cards or other school related expenses. Each student is entitled to $2,000 at maximum.
  3. Assessment for studnets with special learning needs  

    (For kindergarten, primary and secondary students)
    1. Students who are receiving CSSA, kindergarten and child care centre full fee remission or full grant School Textbook Assistance with suspected special learning needs recommended by specialists can be supported to receive individual assessment. Each Student is entitled to $4,500 at maximum.
  4. Overseas or local learning programmes

    (For primary and secondary students referred by PLK affiliated schools, school guidance service or residential child care services)
    1. Students who are receiving CSSA or full grant School Textbook Assistance can be supported to participate in overseas or local learning programmes launched by their schools. (priority to overseas programmes) Each student is entitled to $2,500 at maximum.
  5. Each beneficiary is entitled to every single aspect of the respective financial assistance mentioned above once within 2 years.
