Ka Hung, an only child who is now nearly six years old, began receiving Po Leung Kuk's “I Can Fly” pre-school rehabilitation services in August 2023. He has been diagnosed with significant language impairment, mild attention deficit, and hyperactivity-related behavioural difficulties. In the early stages of services, he faced challenges in verbal expression, concentration and social interaction. He struggled to engage in sustained classroom learning and often felt isolated at school due to his limited social skills. In addition, he had not completed toilet training by his K2 year, including overcome bedwetting, which further hindered his classroom learning and social development.

In response to Ka Hung’s needs, our service team developed a multidisciplinary support plan for him, including integration training for children with special needs, social communication sessions delivered by speech therapists, gross motor cycling training provided by physiotherapists, and a tailored self-care programme designed by occupational therapists.

Following a year of professional intervention, Ka Hung has made heartening progress. He successfully completed toilet training in the second term of K2, and his concentration in class has also improved significantly. He is now able to sit attentively during lessons and interact more actively with teachers. In particular, after participating in the cycling training, Ka Hung has built his self-confidence remarkably. He has become more proactive in doing home practice and finishing his homework, and has begun to experience the joy of learning.
