Po Leung Kuk Dr Margaret CHOI Innovation and Technology Fund (Choi Kai Yau School) promotes innovative technology in education

To inspire students’ creative thinking

 

(13 July 2019, Hong Kong) The education sector has stepped up its efforts in promoting STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) in recent years. Po Leung Kuk Choi Kai Yau School received a generous donation of HK$5 million from Dr Margaret W L CHOI, Advisor of Po Leung Kuk, to set up the “Po Leung Kuk Dr Margaret CHOI Innovation and Technology Fund (Choi Kai Yau School)”, so as to promote the education of modern technology in school, motivate students with more innovative ideas and nurture young talents for the industry.

 

Po Leung Kuk attaches great importance to the all-round development of students, various funds, scholarships and grants were established to support the learning needs of students. Founded in 2002, Po Leung Kuk Choi Kai Yau School believes “every child is good at something” and aims to discover the strengths of every student and help them excel in these areas. In addition to academic advancements, students are given opportunities to explore knowledge, enabling them to unleash their fullest potentials. The school therefore always places great emphasis on the teaching for creative thinking by encouraging students to practise constant exploration and problem-solving. Students have also won numerous awards in different science competitions.

 

In support of promoting STEM education in school, Dr Margaret W L CHOI, Advisor of Po Leung Kuk, has generously donated HK$5 million to set up the aforementioned fund for improving facilities and recruiting professionals, so as to enhance students to come up with more innovative ideas to create a better future for themselves and the society.

 

The plaque unveiling ceremony of the “Po Leung Kuk Dr Margaret CHOI Innovation and Technology Fund (Choi Kai Yau School)” was held at Po Leung Kuk Choi Kai Yau School today. Mr Ching Nam MA, CStJ, JP, Chairman of Po Leung Kuk, expressed his thanks to Dr Margaret W L CHOI for her love and support for the school and benefits brought to the students, which truly embodied the theme of Po Leung Kuk this year – “Converging Benevolence, Invigorating Creativity”. Dr Margaret W L CHOI hoped that students would be enlightened and inspired in such an excellent learning environment, to stimulate more creativity and develop more scientific and technological achievements for the well-being of the society in the future.
