Reprovisioning of Po Leung Kuk Tam Au-Yeung Siu Fong Memorial Kindergarten creates quality educational environment to promote multicultural inclusion and joyful learning

(27 March 2019, Hong Kong) The Po Leung Kuk Tam Au-Yeung Siu Fong Memorial Kindergarten will relocate to new school premises with immediate effect. The new premises span a total area of 12,000 square feet, creating a favorable environment for young children to suit their developmental and learning needs.   

 

The New Campus Opening Ceremony cum Dedication Ceremony of Facilities was held today with officiating guest Dr CHOI Yuk Lin, JP, Under Secretary for Education, together with Dr Margaret W L CHOI, Chairman of Po Leung Kuk; Mrs Amy LIU, JP, Donor of the naming premises, and other guests, to bear witness to the new milestone for the school.

  

In her address, Dr Margaret W L CHOI, Chairman of Po Leung Kuk, expressed her appreciation especially to Mr TAM Pak Hung and his family, Donors of the naming premises, for their staunch support and dedications to the school and the children throughout the years, “School is not just like a small society, but also serves as a big family. The slogan of the Po Leung Kuk Kindergartens was “Love‧Start from PLK”. In addition to basic knowledge teaching, the Kuk’s kindergartens are committed to fostering positive thinking and life values in young children with love and care.” Dr CHOI also thanked the donors of the school facilities for their contributions in providing a conducive environment for young children to enrich their learning experience. 

 

Dr CHOI Yuk Lin, JP, Under Secretary for Education, commended the school for its toils in nurturing the growth of our future generation. She stressed that the Government attaches great importance to early childhood education and fully supports the improvement of the school. It will also increase resources for teachers training to enhance the professionalism of the teaching team. She wished the new school premises would be a new ground in cultivating more talents in the future.

 

Mrs Amy LIU, JP, Donor of the naming premises, recalled that the family has started sponsoring the school and named it after Mrs TAM AU-YEUNG Siu Fong since 19 years ago. She hoped the school would uphold its mission in nurturing talents, “Under this well-equipped premises, together with the outstanding teachers and the wise leadership of the Principal, I wish the students of Tam Au-Yeung Siu Fong Memorial Kindergarten will grow up healthily and happily, become the pillars of the society in the future and serve for the well-being of Hong Kong, China and the world.”

 

The new school premises are located on the same ground floor of Whampoa Garden Phase 7, and equip with 9 classrooms, hall, reading corner, physical activity zone and multicultural activity room. The school has been taken over by Po Leung Kuk since 1996 and retained English as the medium of instruction. Nowadays, one fourth of over 400 students in the school are non-Chinese speaking students from Japan, Korea and Europe, enabling the school to become a multicultural inclusive kindergarten.
