Ms Daisy C F HO, Chairman of the Po Leung Kuk Board of Directors 2020-2021, said in her speech that 2020 was undoubtedly a difficult year for Hong Kong people. With the theme for the year “Boundless CompassionUnconditional Giving”, the Kuk carried on the culture of benevolence by providing timely support for those in need, realising boundless possibilities with boundless compassion. Responding to the pandemic, the “Boundless CompassionSolidarity in Action” COVID-19 Response Programme was launched in May last year to offer food assistance for the grassroots families, including the provision of food packs, children’s nutritional packs and hot meals, to help to relieve their imminent needs. The Programme received immense support from all sectors of the community and has benefited approximately 160,000 service attendances.

In his inaugural address, Mr L LAM, Chairman of the Po Leung Kuk Board of Directors 2021-2022, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the staunch support from the predecessors, and sincerely thanked Chairman HO for her brilliant leadership in maintaining quality services and providing timely assistance for the disadvantaged amid the year of pandemic. Chairman LAM described the anti-epidemic work has now entered the “post-pandemic era”, the need for continuing an extensive help in grassroots individuals still prevails. Po Leung Kuk will extend the Response Programme, as well as continue to elevate and expand the Kuk’s diversified services in the year ahead.

Chairman LAM and the Board of Directors 2021-2022 pledged to uphold the Po Leung spirit for the well-being of the society, and widely appealed to people from all walks of life for their funding support, enabling the Kuk to swiftly respond to the need of the society in a timely manner.
