Transom Light

 

  • Transom light is window built on top of a door separated by a bar for the purpose of drawing light into interior or forbetterventilation.
  • Transom lights are commonly found in buildings constructed prior to the popularisation of air conditioning.

  • Placedon top of a door, the transom light’s height from ground deters intrusion while allowing ventilation.

  • Transom lights can be found on most doors in the Main Building, usually designed with 4, 6 or 8 divisions of parallel rectangles for aesthetic purpose.
