Fasces Decoration

 

  • The fasces is bundle of wooden rods strapped together and originated from ancient Roman culture.
  • Fasces has been associated with power, authority and unity in Western culture for past millennia.

  • Commonly found in governmental and public buildings, the fasces symoblises the capacity and social status of the particular structure.

  • The mouldings of fasces can be found at various location of the façade of Main Building and demonstrate the Kuk’s status in Hong Kong society.
