The "Po Leung Kuk Main Building Elevation Animated Evolution" video was produced by the Department of Architecture of Chu Hai College of Higher Education.

Exhibition Introduction

Completed in 1932, the Po Leung Kuk Main Building has been the home of destitute women and children. It is also the Headquarters where important decisions are made, and charity traditions are carried forward by directors and fellows. Located in Causeway Bay, the Main Building has been a testament to the development of Kuk’s work in the district.

As rapid development of Hong Kong since the 20th century transformed the cityscape, the Main Building also witnessed the same growth of the district and the society; its surroundings expanded gradually with new buildings to meet its latest needs, forming into a multipurpose Headquarters we have today. To commemorate the 90th Anniversary of Po Leung Kuk Main Building cum 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR, this exhibition aspires to bring visitors on a journey to revisit the origin and development of the Main Building, and displays the evolution of Po Leung Kuk as the society’s need for social welfare evolved.
