Support for Tai Po Fire Relief
Humanity Shines in the Face of Fire
Po Leung Kuk is dedicated to providing vital support to residents of Wang Fuk Court affected by the fire.
The fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po has caused thousands of households to lose loved ones and their homes, leaving many in despair and helplessness, struggling with basic necessities. Po Leung Kuk immediately stepped in to assist after the incident; in addition to offering financial support to the families of the deceased and the injured through the Po Leung Kuk Charity Fund for the Disadvantaged, we have also launched a series of proactive support measures. With the generous donations from benefactors and corporate partners, we are working hand in hand with the affected residents to overcome this challenging time.
Support Measures Include:
• Distributing an emergency cash subsidy of HK$15,000 to each Wang Fuk Court household.
• Providing financial aid to the families of the deceased and the injured through the Social Welfare Department's "one social worker per household" service, including HK$30,000 to each deceased person's family and HK$ 10,000 to each injured individual.
• Coordinating with corporate benefactors to deliver essential supplies and appliances to residents, including over 1,700 laptops and tablets to support residents' learning, work, and daily living needs.
• Providing emergency accommodation support at Po Leung Kuk Lee Shau Kee Youth Oasis, offering a safe place to stay for more than 180 residents.
• Offering temporary accommodation at 26 elderly care and rehabilitation units across Hong Kong to elderly people and persons with disabilities in need.
• Providing temporary childcare services at 3 kindergartens in Tai Po or Sha Tin.
• Deploying Chinese Medicine Mobile Clinics to provide free consultation services and distribute supplies to Wang Fuk Court residents.
