Rules Of The Use Of Archives

Application

Applications have to be made in writing to the Po Leung Kuk Museum Curator for appointments within the following time to read the archives:

Mon to Sat

10:00 - 13:00
14:00 - 17:00
2. Registration

i. Please select the archives you need from the catalogues

ii. Please complete a registration form listing your selected archives.

Return

i. You are required to return the archives after reading. After due checking, the Museum staff will stamp the registration form with a "Returned" chop.

ii. Before leaving the Museum, please ensure that the registration form has been properly stamped.

Any unauthorized removal of documents/ photographs shall be regarded as theft. Permission to read the archives shall be entirely at our discretion.

You shall not mark, fold or damage the archives; otherwise, you shall be liable to compensate the Kuk with the current or estimated value of such archives.

Photocopying Service

i. Photocopies taken from any piece of archives shall not exceed 1/10 of its total volume.

ii. All the names on the photocopied archives shall be shaded.

iii. All photocopies of the Museum shall ONLY be used for academic and internal research purpose. Public release of such materials shall under no circumstances be permitted without prior written consent of the Po Leung Kuk.

iv. For photocopying service, please fill in a Request Form and return it to the Museum staff.

v. Photocopying charges are as follows:

1-100 pages
HK$4.00 per page
101 pages or above
HK$3.00 per page

vi. Photocopying will normally take three working days.

7. Smoking, eating and drinking are strictly prohibited within the reading room.
8. No handbags, briefcases, knapsacks, food, beverage and other items not reasonably required during the inspection of archives can be brought into the search room.
9. Only pencils can be used for writing when using archives in the reading room.
10. You are required to wear white gloves provided by the Museum when handling the archives.
11. Please keep quiet to avoid any disturbance to others
