Care for Elders Fundraising Project

Mr. Chung is 82 years of age. He is a patient in one of our Enhanced Home & Community Care Services in the Yau Tsim Mong District. Prior to retiring, he had spent his life selling vegetables in the markets. With the degeneration of his back due to several decades of intense hard work, Mr Chung was unfortunately beset by a stroke.

As Mr. Chung was living on the 4th floor of a building with no elevator, His condition meant he was no longer able to go out for shopping or participate actively in the community, and he was confined to his home for a long time without anyone visiting or aware of his condition.

When a social worker finally heard about Mr. Chung, she went to visit him at his home. On entering, she saw an old man with a big smile, gentle and down to earth. He told the social worker he used to be a happy and content man before his physical decline.

The social worker eventually signed Mr. Chung up to our services. He was assisted with getting up and down the stairs using the electrical stair-climber provided by our centre. When Mr. Chung went out and back to the community, he saw his old neighbors and friends again who missed him dearly.
